There is another kind of car that uses fuel cells, which produce electricity and heat away from hydrogen and oxygen. These type of cars will be the cleanest to run, because they only produce water vapor and warmth.
Hybrid cars, such as the Toyota Prius, use a couple of different causes of energy. The advanced technology they use combines an electric motor with a tiny gas engine. It uses both of them at various times, like the electric generator when going slow rates of speed. Traveling at freeway rates of speed, both are being used and the battery is being charged during those times also.
